Interior Design Services and Curated Home Furnishings for Beautifully Livable Homes.

Designing or updating your home comes with a lot of decisions — and not every project needs the same level of support.

At V & Co Design, there are two ways to work together, based on what you’re planning and how much help you want along the way: Design Services and Showroom Services.

No matter the path, you’ll find the same thoughtful approach, professional expertise, and care for the details — all focused on making the process feel clear, manageable, and genuinely enjoyable.

Design Services

FOR SHAPING HOW YOUR HOME COMES TOGETHER — NOT JUST WHAT GOES INTO IT.

Design Services are for homeowners who want help defining the big picture and guiding a project from idea to reality.

This is the right path when you’re making decisions that affect layout, flow, function, and long-term use of your home — and want a designer involved to help set the direction, talk through options, and make sure everything comes together the way it should.

Some clients need full design leadership for a larger project. Others want a designer involved at key moments to help clarify priorities and avoid missteps as they move forward. Both levels of support live here, with the same thoughtful, structured approach behind them.

Design Services are right for:

  • Remodels and renovations

  • Kitchen and bath projects

  • New construction

  • Full-room or full-home furnishings

  • Smaller focused scope projects

Showroom Services

FOR SELECTING THE RIGHT PIECES — WITH EXPERT HELP COORDINATING THE DETAILS.

Showroom Services are for homeowners who know what they’re looking for and want help selecting pieces that feel right for their home.

This path works best when the vision is already taking shape and you want support choosing items that complement the space, feel cohesive, and fit into the bigger picture — without having to manage every step yourself.

Some clients come in ready to move forward. Others want a second set of eyes to help narrow choices or confirm decisions before committing. Either way, Showroom Services make the process smoother, more confident, and far less piecemeal.

Showroom Services are right for:

  • Cabinetry and countertops

  • Window treatments

  • Lighting and hardware

  • Furnishings, rugs, and accessories

Frequently Asked Questions

We know starting a design project comes with a lot of moving parts—and it’s important to find a designer and a process that feels like the right fit. Below, you'll find answers to some of the most common questions we get about how we work and what to expect.

Working with V & Co Design

  • Our process is structured to keep things organized, but flexible enough to fit your needs.
We start by getting to know you—how you live, what you like, and what your goals are.
From there, we guide you through each phase, keeping you involved, informed, and excited about your project.
We also work closely with builders and architects when needed to make sure the entire team is on the same page.

  • It depends on the size of the project:

    • New builds and full renovations: 4–8 months to design (up to a year for complex homes).

    • Kitchen, bath, and single room furnishings projects: About 2 months.

    • Additions and larger renovations: 3 months or more.

These timelines cover the design phase only. Construction and product lead times are separate and can vary based on your contractor and vendors.

  • The sooner, the better! For new builds, we recommend reaching out at least six - 8 months before construction starts.
We take a limited number of new builds and full renovations per year, so we often book out large projects in advance.
For smaller projects through our Flexible Design Services, we can usually fit you into our schedule more quickly.

  • Yes. We’ll help you set a realistic budget based on your goals and priorities. Throughout the design process, we’ll recommend options and make decisions that align with your investment plan.

  • You don’t need to have it all figured out. Part of our process is helping you define your unique style through inspiration, conversation, and a structured discovery process.

  • Curated Products is best suited for focused areas and one-off product selections.
If you’re designing a full home or undertaking a major renovation, our
Signature Design service will be a better fit to support you through the entire process and ensure everything comes together seamlessly.

  • We work with several great contractors and tradespeople in Central Iowa and are happy to recommend someone once we learn more about your project.
If you already have a builder or contractor, we’re happy to collaborate with them too.

  • We support you during construction by coordinating with your contractor, answering design questions, and making site visits when needed.
However, we don’t manage construction labor or timelines—that’s your General Contractor’s role.

  • We do not offer licensed architectural services. However, we can draft floor plans for remodels and additions and collaborate with your architect on a new construction project to create functional layouts and cohesive exterior designs.
In Iowa, architect-stamped drawings are generally not required to obtain a building permit for single-family residential new construction or additions.
That said, we always recommend checking with your local building department, as requirements can vary depending on the location and complexity of the project.

  • For Signature Design projects, our design fees are based on the scope of work, which we define together during your initial consultation.

We work on a flat-fee basis for the design phase, covering all planning, selections, and documentation. Project oversight, additional scope, or construction-phase support are billed hourly as needed.

Most interior products for your project are sourced through V & Co Design, ensuring consistent quality, seamless coordination, and reliable delivery from our trusted trade partners.

Products & Procurement

  • We offer a curated selection of products for every part of your home — including custom cabinetry, countertops, lighting, window treatments, furnishings, and finishes. These pieces are sourced through our trusted trade partners, ensuring high quality and seamless integration with your design.

  • Once your design and selections are approved, we handle the ordering, tracking, and coordination of all items purchased through V & Co Design. Each piece is received, inspected, and stored until it’s ready for delivery or installation. Our goal is to make the process effortless and ensure every detail arrives on time and in perfect condition.

  • About 90% of what we specify comes from our trusted trade vendors and partners — companies we’ve carefully vetted and built strong relationships with. Working with these sources allows us to ensure consistent quality, reliable pricing, and accurate delivery timelines.

We may occasionally select pieces from retail sources if they’re the best fit for your project, but we typically source through our preferred partners whose craftsmanship and service standards align with ours.

  • Absolutely. Our showroom features a curated selection of materials, finishes, fabrics, and product samples to help you see and feel the quality before making your selections. We want you to be confident in every choice and excited about how it will come together in your home.

  • All of our cabinetry is custom-made to order and meticulously factory-assembled to ensure the highest level of quality. Lead times vary depending on the manufacturer and order size, but most cabinetry arrives within 6–10 weeks from the time your order is placed.

For smaller projects, we also offer a selection of ready-ship bathroom vanities, which typically deliver within 2–3 weeks.

  • Yes. Installation can be arranged through our trusted professional installer for an additional fee.

If you prefer to work with your own contractor, we’ll coordinate delivery to your project site and provide detailed installation documentation to ensure everything is installed correctly and to specification.

  • Yes. Both Crystal and IMDesign cabinetry offer environmentally conscious options, including low-VOC finishes and formaldehyde-free materials, in line with our commitment to creating healthier homes.

It’s worth noting that because wood is a natural material, it naturally emits organic compounds (VOCs). These emissions are generally harmless, but individuals with chemical sensitivities, respiratory conditions, or compromised immune systems may prefer specific material choices. We’re happy to guide you through these options and recommend what’s best for your health and lifestyle.

  • Our cabinetry is highly customizable, so pricing depends on the size of your project, materials, finishes, and design complexity. The good news is that this flexibility allows us to tailor each design to meet a range of budgets and priorities.

After measuring your space and understanding your goals, we’ll provide a detailed estimate outlining costs, options, and recommendations to help you make informed decisions.

  • All items ordered through V & Co Design are received and inspected before they ever reach your home. If something arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, we manage the claim or replacement directly with the vendor — so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Because we work with trusted trade partners, issues are rare and resolved quickly, ensuring every piece that’s delivered meets our standards for quality and craftsmanship.

  • Yes — for most products, we coordinate storage and white-glove delivery through our receiving warehouse. This service ensures your pieces are safely received, carefully inspected, stored, and delivered in perfect condition when your space is ready.

Cabinetry, however, is shipped directly to your project site. We schedule delivery based on your anticipated installation timeline.
