It depends on the size of the project:

• New builds and full renovations: 4–8 months to design (up to a year for complex homes).

• Kitchen, bath, and single room furnishings projects: About 2 months.

• Additions and larger renovations: 3 months or more.

These timelines cover the design phase only. Construction and product lead times are separate and can vary based on your contractor and vendors.

As early as possible, especially if your project involves construction. Bringing us in before major layouts, cabinetry, electrical, plumbing, or finish decisions have been finalized gives us more opportunity to think through the project as a whole.

Furnishing and window treatment projects also benefit from advance planning, particularly when custom or made-to-order pieces are involved.

If your project is already underway, you’re still welcome to inquire. We’ll review where things stand and determine whether we can meaningfully help at that stage.

We design with your investment in mind and help you understand what is realistic for the scope and quality you’re looking for.

Early conversations about investment allow us to prioritize where your budget will have the greatest impact and avoid developing a plan that isn’t financially practical.

Yes. Custom cabinetry, window treatments, and individual furnishings can be purchased through the studio without engaging V & Co Design for a complete Interior Design project.

These services begin with a complimentary Showroom Appointment, where we’ll discuss what you’re looking for and explore the appropriate options.

If your needs extend beyond selecting the product and require professional evaluation of the room, layout, finishes, or other design decisions, we may recommend a Design Consultation.

We work with several great contractors and tradespeople in Central Iowa and are happy to recommend someone once we learn more about your project.
If you already have a builder or contractor, we’re happy to collaborate with them too.

V & Co Design is not a general contractor and does not manage construction labor, subcontractors, jobsite safety, or the contractor’s construction schedule.

When included in your design scope, we can provide implementation support such as communicating design intent to your contractor, answering design-related questions, reviewing details, and attending key site visits.

We may also coordinate installation for certain products supplied through V & Co Design, such as cabinetry and window treatments, and wallcoverings.

We do not offer licensed architectural services. However, we can draft floor plans for remodels and additions and collaborate with your architect on a new construction project to create functional layouts and cohesive exterior designs.
In Iowa, architect-stamped drawings are generally not required to obtain a building permit for single-family residential new construction or additions.
That said, we always recommend checking with your local building department, as requirements can vary depending on the location and complexity of the project.

Every Interior Design project begins with a fixed-fee Design Consultation.

If additional design work is recommended, we’ll develop a proposal based on the scope, complexity, and level of involvement your project requires. The proposal will clearly outline the design services and corresponding fee before you decide to move forward.

Additional implementation or coordination services may be billed hourly when applicable and will be identified as part of your scope.
